Eli Ricks played his first season of collegiate football at Louisiana State University in the Covid era.
In addition, he intercepted five passes. at his second year at Baton Rouge, Ricks had an injury that forced him to miss the final seven games of the season.
Ricks left LSU at the end of the season for in-conference foe Alabama in Tuscaloosa via the transfer portal.
Early in his undergraduate career, Ricks showed remarkable promise by making four interceptions, two of which he recovered for touchdowns.
Teams in the fourth or fifth round of the draft will spend a pick on him because of the promise of what he may become.
When the throw is challenged, he shows aggression with the receiver and displays some of the speed he had as a freshman with the Tigers.
However, teams will be wary of Ricks because of his injury history. He has only played the equivalent of two full college football seasons.
If Ricks wants to have a lengthy career in the NFL, he must make an effort to return to his former level of play.
He has to improve his zone defensive skills and footwork, particularly in regard to stop-and-go routes executed by receivers.
Last but not least, he needs to improve his run defense skills if he wants to be drafted by a team.
